The children had a super day out visiting the Walker Art Gallery. They went in search of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I. Each child was given a portrait booklet to work through focusing on the portraits of Henry and Elizabeth. The children were astonished at the size of King Henry's portrait, no doubt patiently painted by Hans Holbein!
The children observed the paintings carefully, noting the rich silks and velvets worn as well as the vast amounts of jewellery on display to signify their importance and wealth.
The children have also produced some amazing sketches in their art books of Henry in all his glory. They even had time to pretend to be Queen Elizabeth I and King Henry VIII, the boys especially looked very self important and strong in their poses. Whilst the girls looked elegant and beautiful!
All the children thoroughly enjoyed their day out in search of a Tudor King and a Tudor Queen!
