Meet our Romans

What we are learning about this term

RE lessons have focused on  New Life- focusing on the gift of the Holy Spirit, Building Bridges- focusing on Reconciliation and God's People-focusing on the Universal Church including learning about the lives of Saints. We will also be celebrating the the year 4 children who made their First Holy Communions with a special mass on the 29th of June at 9.10 am.

Our IPC topic this term is Going for Gold, based on learning about the Olympics in preparation for Rio 2016. The children will be learning about Brazil, the locations of the Olympic sites across Rio, stadium designs, the history of the Olympics since 1896, as well as taking part in activities relating to this event.

Our English focus is  Poetry and Explanations, Fact Files about Competitors and Countries taking part as well as trying to improve our Spelling, Grammar and Cursive Handwriting.

In Mathematics we are still busy learning our times tables, as well as learning written methods for calculation including column addition and subtraction, grid method for multiplication and division using a number line. We will also be learning about fractions, decimals and measures including time and length.

We are  learning how to play cricket, rounders, tennis and taking part in some athletic events including rhythmic gymnastics.

Mrs McMullan is teaching Singing through songs and hymns to the children on Wednesday mornings.

Senorita Maria is teaching Spanish to the children, they have been busy learning numbers, days of the week, months of the year, family names and types of weather through a lot of speaking and listening games and activities.

We will begin the Computing scheme of work once the iPads have been updated with new apps.
