English At St Aloysius Catholic Primary School

At St Aloysius, we recognise the importance of English within our everyday lives and learning, both within and beyond the classroom. We aim to equip all pupils with the skills and ability to read, write and speak fluently and with confidence, in order for all pupils to achieve success across all areas of the curriculum. Our teaching of English is guided by the four areas of the English National Curriculum Programme of Study:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Spoken Language
  • Spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation

Voice 21

Here at St Aloysius we are proud to be a Voice 21 oracy school. We recognise and value the importance of oral communication amongst pupils and staff.  We aim to offer all pupils an oracy-rich approach to their learning across school, whilst building confidence and fluency in speech.
