Edinburgh

Welcome to Edinburgh!

I am Miss Devlin and I am so excited to be teaching Year 2 this year! We are going to have a lot of fun, and we will learn a lot. My favourite subjects are Maths and Music, I could sing and play the guitar all day long! I also love to read and I hope we can share this passion throughout Year 2.

Key Information:

  • PE is on a Thursday. Children can come to school wearing their PE kit.
  • Snack money is £2 per half term. Please bring it into school in an envelope with your child’s name on it.

Smiley Awards.

We can earn smiley awards for many things in school and love to hear the ping when Miss adds them to our chart! Here are some of the things we can get them for:

Up to 10 smilies for reading at home and bringing our book back.

Up to 5 for home learning (this includes 2 for spellings)

1 if we get Star of the Day

Extra smilies can be given for good listening, creative thinking, excellent manners, helping others, working hard and for being the best class in assembly!

The awards are 150 = bronze, 300 = silver, 450 = gold and 600 = platinum and 750 = diamond. We visit Miss Wrigley for each award.

Reading:

Your child should read their phonics reading book 3 times (on different days). The first time helps them to read new words, the second helps to become familiar with the story and on their third read they can read it like a storyteller.

Please write in their reading record each time and tell Miss Devlin and Mrs Smyth if the book is finished. When it is finished we will change it for a new book. Your child can also choose their own story from our Key Stage 1 library. They may be unable to read this independently, so it is a great opportunity to read some lovely new stories together!

Edinburgh After School Club = Singing Club.

After school club is on a Wednesday after school from 3:05pm – 4:05pm.
