We are Athens, a mixed year 3/4 class. This year we are looking forward to doing lots of exciting things as we work and learn together.
Our teacher is Mrs Court, and our support staff are Mrs Millington and Mrs Armstrong.
After the February half term we are continuing with our exciting topic on the Romans, concentrating on the Roman army, their clashes with the Celts and Boudicca's amazing revolt. We will discover how the Romans and Celts spent their days, looking at their homes, clothes, foods, tools and weapons. We will gather evidence from artefacts and make our own examples of Celtic treasures and finally spend a whole day as Romans to re-cap on our learning and end our tremendous topic.
In science we will investigate the human body, particularly the human skeleton and organs such as the heart. We will discover how our muscles work and help us move. We will investigate how we can keep our bodies fit and healthy and carry out some fair tests.
In English we will be reading, analysing and creating our own poems, journalistic recounts and science fiction and fantasy stories while continuing to work on spelling, handwriting and grammar. We are also looking forward to our visit to the theatre to see Gangsta Granny!
Fractions, measurements, place value and multiplication and division will be our focus in marvellous maths.
Our Religious Education topics are Listening and Sharing, Giving and Receiving, Self Discipline and Giving All as our Year 4 pupils prepare with their parents for their first Holy Communion.
We will be swimming everyday for the first two weeks of the half term and learning to play the sport of basketball with Commando Steve.
We are looking forward to a busy, wonderful half term so keep checking in to see our progress!
