In nursery we have really enjoyed the recent cold, frosty weather because it gives us lots of fun learning opportunities. We have been able to mark make in the ice and snow, making patterns with our feet, with sticks and making tracks and trails with the vehicles. We also made snow angels with our arms and legs.
To decorate our shed we have made ice sculptures by adding glitter and food colouring to water and leaving them outside to freeze. Some of the children gathered enough snow to create a snowman's face. We found icicles and frozen spider's webs that glistened and sparkled.
We noticed how the cold had made the ground hard and sometimes slippery and changed the consistency of the sand and the mud too. We also found we could melt ice by warming it in our hand. Finally we enjoyed making snowballs to put inside Mrs Court's coat! Look at our wonderful learning experiences.
