PE: Tuesday and Friday (we need our full PE kits in on these days)

Swimming - we will begin our two week block of swimming lessons at the leisure centre on March 11th. The children will need their swimming kits, including swimming cap, each day except Friday during this time.

Reading Books - we should read every night and bring our books in each day to be checked. Our books get changed on a Tuesday.

Times tables - we are having a big focus on learning our tables so need to practise them at home as part of our home learning.

Spellings - we bring a spelling list home each week to practise and learn.

Our topic for this term is The Roman Empire and it's effects on Britain.

We have lots of exciting, creative and interactive activities planned including a visit to a Roman influenced town!

(Please see our Knowledge Organiser for more information).

In the first half of the term we will be reading about dilemmas and writing our own dilemmas based on the story 'Lost or Stolen' as well explanations. We will be using ICT to help us become publishers. Our grammar work will focus on possessive apostrophes and use of pronouns. Spelling rules will cover suffixes and some prefixes for Year 3. The children will also have challenge words from Year 3/4 list and topic words to learn to spell.

In maths in the first half term we will complete work on division and return to place value developing our knowledge of fractions and Year 4 will cover decimals. Each year group will work on measures and geometry as appropriate.

Our Science topic for Spring 1 is forces and magnets and we will be linking it to our previous learning by finding out about Lodestone, a naturally occurring magnetic rock! We will also be designing and making our own compass and levers.

In RE we will explore Communities and Listening and Sharing, two exciting new topics and Miss Telfor-Clarke will support our personal and social development and help our emotional well being with work based on goals and achievements.

It's hola to Senorita Maria who is going to introduce the world around us in Spanish and EFC in the community will continue to support our physical development with tennis and cricket activities.

Finally, our violin lessons with Mrs Ali will continue and we hope to have another successful recital for you to attend at the end of the Spring term.
