Reminders

PE: Tuesday and Friday (we need our full PE kits in on these days)

Swimming - we will begin our two week block of swimming lessons at the leisure centre on March 11th. The children will need their swimming kits, including swimming cap, each day except Friday during this time.

Reading Books - we should read every night and bring our books in each day to be checked. Our books get changed on a Tuesday.

Times tables - we are having a big focus on learning our tables so need to practise them at home as part of our home learning.

Spellings - we bring a spelling list home each week to practise and learn.

Our topic for this term is The Roman Empire and it's effects on Britain.

We have lots of exciting, creative and interactive activities planned including a visit to Chester! We will design and create mosaics and learn all about Boudicca.

(Please see our Knowledge Organiser for more information).

In the second half of the term we will be reading a playscript called 'Tune of Lies' and writing our own playscripts using all the features we have identified. Our grammar work will focus on adverbs and the use of adverbial phrases. Spelling rules will continue to cover suffixes and some prefixes for Year 3. The children will also have challenge words from Year 3/4 list and topic words to learn to spell.

In maths in the second half of the term we will return to place value, particularly developing our understanding of Roman numerals. Each year group will work on geometry, time and statistics as appropriate.

Our Science topic for Spring 2 is skeletons and in particular how humans move and we will be designing and making our own levers.

In RE we will continue to explore Listening and Sharing and introduce two exciting new topics, Self-discipline and Energy. Miss Telfor-Clarke will support our personal and social development and help our emotional well being with work based on 'It's good to be me'.

It's hola to Senorita Maria who is going to introduce animals and our home environment in Spanish and EFC in the community will continue to support our physical development with exciting activities.

Finally, our violin lessons with Mrs Ali will continue and we hope to have another successful recital for you to attend at the end of the Spring term.
