What a start to our new topic. We loved learning all about Picasso and could hardly believe some of the pictures he drew and painted at such a young age. We giggled a little when we first looked at some of his later paintings. After Mrs Phillips explained why Picasso changed his style to cubism we were even more impressed and could not wait to have a go at creating our own portraits in his style. We studied each other carefully and created frontal and profile sketches. We used parts of these to create a new portrait that showed movement and mood. We used Picasso's Weeping Woman portrait as our inspiration. If you visit the Tate in Liverpool you can see the real one, which Mrs Phillips said is worth millions of pounds!
We think our pictures are just as special, even if they aren't worth quite as much and were very proud to see some of them framed on the school corridors. Keep your eyes peeled for our special artwork. Most of us also decided to put ours on the 'Proud Wall'so we could show them off - come and see them!
