What an exciting day! After hearing the news that Princess Charlotte had been born, Miss Harrison thought it was a brilliant idea for us to write to Prince William and Kate and write letters of congratulations.
We tried really hard with our letters and the children wrote lovely sentences such as “I think Charlotte is the prettiest name I have ever heard!” The children also thought of questions to ask about Prince George such as “Does Prince George like having a new baby sister?” and questions about Princess Charlotte such as “Is she a good baby?” and “Does she cry a lot?” The children were very proud of their letters and we posted them to Kensington Palace and eagerly awaited a reply.
Today, an important package arrived with an official royal stamp on it and we were so excited to see what was inside! When we opened it, there was a letter to Miss Harrison and Cardiff class thanking us all for our ‘wonderful letters’ and they said they were ‘immensely touched that we should write as we did’. All of the children then received their own individual envelopes and inside was a keepsake photograph of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with Princess Charlotte with a lovely message for the children on the back!
Their message read “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were most touched that you took the trouble to write as you did on the birth of their daughter, Princess Charlotte. Their Royal Highnesses are extremely grateful for the wonderful messages they have received and send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.” The children were truly delighted to receive an individual response and loved reading them together. It was a truly magical moment in class and something that is lovely to keep forever!
EDIT: Our wonderful news has now been shared by the Liverpool Echo and Educate Magazine!
