St Aloysius Catholic Primary School Together with Jesus, we Love, Learn and Believe

Cardiff

Welcome to Cardiff!

Our class teacher is Miss Harrison.

Our teaching assistant is Mrs Smyth.

The children have been so busy settling into the Year 1 routine and we are learning new things every day. We always try our best and we can't wait to share our learning with you! We update our page regularly so you can keep up to date with what we are learning about in school. You can also follow us on twitter to get regular updates.

Our topic this term is

'A Day in the Life'

  • In History, we are going to learn to learn all about a significant person from the past and we are going to focus on Florence Nightingale. We will also invite a modern day nurse into class and we will compare how things have changed over time and the impact Florence Nightingale had.
  • In Science, we will learn all about healthy lifestyles and learn about healthy eating, exercise and good hygiene. We will welcome Jenny from the health team into class to help us to learn about healthy eating.
  • In DT, we are going to make a healthy snack, such as a fruit kebab/smoothie. We will design, make and evaluate our designs.
  • In Art we will be making portraits in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, using fruit and vegetables to make self-portraits.
  • In Computing, we will follow the Knowsley CLC scheme of work.
  • We will also be having a 'Female Pioneers Week' and a 'Rock Kidz' week during this term.

Important Days:

  • Reading books are changed on a Monday.
  • PE days are on Monday with EitC and Tuesday with Miss Harrison.
  • Spellings are sent home on a Thursday for a quiz on the following Thursday.
