We spent the last half term learning all about the Romans and understanding that we know about how they lived because of the things they left behind. This term we are looking at archaeology and the treasures buried below the ground.
We had hands on experience of being archaeologists as we worked in groups, digging for treasure. We began by gridding the area off and creating co-ordinates so that we could record where we found our objects. Next we used trowels, brushes and magnifying glasses to help us to identify what we had found. We were amazed to find bones, old fahioned pennies, jewellery and even an old mobile phone!
We realised that the deeper things were buried lower down, and newer objects were closer to the surface.
